Stuff like this makes me sick.  Then we wonder why kids can't get any lurnin dun @ skool.  I totally remember stuff like this happening when I was in school and as much as I would have hated it at the time, this is why schools, public or private, should have uniforms.  I never would have said that before I was a parent.  Its amazing how things change.

I never would have guessed that the Red Sox would put up 8 against CC Sabathia.  But then, what do I know?

The crazy thing is that Manny Ramierez and David Ortiz got on base all 10 times the batted in the game.  I know they are both great hitters, but that is a little redonk!  Oh and if that isn't wild enough check out their playoff numbers.  Both have OBP's over .700.  They really haven't clicked all year and it is so nice to see them finally getting it together at the most fortunate time.  

If they keep this up we may have some celebrating to do!

other than the fact that Queen & Country #32 finally drops today (at least according to Diamond) after a very long wait.

Hopefully I'll be able to get to the shop and pick it up.  I'm very interested in seeing how Operation: Red Panda concludes.  At the same time, this issue is very bittersweet because it marks the end of Q&C for the foreseeable future.  

If you haven't read Queen & Country I highly recommend it.  

Oh and Daisuke pitched a gem last night!  That's 5 in a row for the Sox with Beckett going tonight!  If only KC could find a way to beat the Yankees! (As if that has any chance of happening)

This will be quick.

Jon Lester made his comeback from cancer last night in Cleveland.  In storybook fashion he pitched six solid innings and earned his first win.  He only allowed a handful of hits and 2 runs (1 bad pitch that got hit out cost him 2 runs) and had 6 strikeouts -including a huge one with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 4th.

If you aren't a Red Sox fan this may not be a big story to you.  But given the week sports fans have had with Michael Vick being indicted, the breaking of the NBA officiating scandal, and of course Barry Bonds, isn't it refreshing to see a good person have good things happen to them?  

I think it is.

Congrats on the win Jon.  Welcome back to Boston.  We hope this time you stay a while.

I've never done this before, but after Saturday afternoon I felt I needed to vent.

What am I venting about?  Baseball of course, but more importantly Fox's horrific coverage of the Barry Bonds home run chase.  I couldn't believe what I was hearing as Jeanie Zalasko's claimed the only reason I had tuned in was to see Barry's at bats (and me thinking it was to watch the Sox vs. Sox match up, shows what I know).  All so I could maybe possibly potentially see Barry hit number 754.  For those of you keeping score at home - would that break the record?  Tie the record?  In case you live under a rock I'll spoil the answer - NO.  

So after all of this coverage I can see only two possible explanations for this and frankly neither of them are good.

1.  Fox actually believes that aside from people in San Francisco (and even their reasons elude me) anyone actually cares about this event or even better is rooting for Barry to break the record.  If they are operating under that assumption they have completely lost touch with reality.  Nobody wants this to happen.  If you don't think that even Bud Seilg hopes Barry gets struck by lightning as he approaches the batters box you are crazy.    

2.  Fox is just as indifferent as everyone else but feel compelled to make a big deal out of it anyway.  I suppose Fox does have an interest in the story seeing as they spend a lot of money to broadcast the games.  But they should be trying to give the fans what they want right?  Clearly they have no idea what the fans want. (which brings me back to point #1)

Anyway I'm not sure which of the two is  the correct answer is and frankly I'm not sure which I'd prefer it to be.  Either way I'm embarrassed for Fox, Major League Baseball, and any other member of the media (print or electronic) that has to feign interest in Barry and his farce of a home run record.
